Player by Player Review (note it is hard to watch everyone so I will only be as detailed as I can)
#1 Jason Gram- Absent
#2 Steven King- Was on a modified program, mostly just laps. One of the trainers asked him if he was okay, his right knee was heavily strapped.
#3 Xavier Clarke- Looked the goods, very clean and participated in training fully.
#5 Ben McEvoy- Couldn’t spot him, with the stands off limits or demolished it was harder to pick some of the lesser known players.
#6 Leigh Fisher- Extremely skinny, looks polished.
#7 Lenny Hayes- Great to actually see him at training. Hasn’t missed a beat, great presence.
#8 Max Hudghton- Not as vocal as in the past, looked fit and very skilled. At one stage they were trying to kick balls back into a bag, he was the only successful one.
#10 Steven Baker- Looked good, disappeared into the rooms quickly and was on the bike the whole time.
#11 Leigh Montagna- Ran a few laps while the rest were doing kick to kick, then trained fully, looked strong.
#12 Nick Riewoldt- Spent the first half of training on the bike, joined the main group later though.
#13 Adam Schneider- A lot fitter looking than years past but puffing after the first lap.
#14 Luke Ball- Looks amazing. Fittest he has ever looked in my opinion.
#15 Michael Gardiner- Ran laps with King the whole time I was there, looked much fitter than King.
#16 Raphael Clarke- Absent
#17 Colm Begley- Didn’t notice Colm.
#18 Brendon Goddard- Absent
#19 Sam Gilbert- Looked okay but again did nothing to stand out.
#20 David Armitage- Like Ball, Armo is exceptionally fit, he looks set for a big year.
#21 Nicholas Heyne- Didn’t notice Heyne.
#22 Farren Ray- Didn’t notice Ray.
#23 Justin Koschitzke- My biggest concern, Kosi was on a modified program from the start of training (last out of the rooms). He spent a fair bit of time with the trainers, stopped after every lap. Grabbed his shins, stretched them his ankle and calf. As someone who has a history of shin splints I can’t help but be concerned he may have them too. Having said all that he looked very fit and was very sharp with the reflex work he did with the trainers. Fantastic hands.
#24 Sean Dempster- Didn’t notice Dempster.
#25 Sam Fisher- Saw him at the start of training then lost him, looks very fit.
#26 Nick Dal Santo- Looks fitter but beyond that did nothing to stand out which is disappointing.
#27 Jason Blake- Like the last report I did Blake looks great, fit and skilled.
#28 Rhys Stanley- Didn’t notice Rhys
#29 Tom Lynch- Seemed to be on a lighter program but looked capable, don’t expect himt o play round one though.
#31 Mathew Maguire- Easily one of the strongest guys at the club, looked good, participated in most of training and did it well.
#32 Andrew McQualter- Didn’t notice mini
#33 James Gwilt- Cleaner and more assured than I have seen him in the past, did forward work with Milne and Ball and looked good.
#34 Jack Steven- Think Jack was with the injury group. Perhaps just a modified program though
#36 Jarryd Allen- Absent
#37 Eljay Connors- Couldn’t spot Eljay.
#38 Clinton Jones- Subdued session, looked okay though.
#39 Alistair Smith- Didn’t notice Smith at all.
#40 Robert Eddy- Modified program, good spirits.
#41 Paul Cahill- Didn’t notice Paul.
#42 Jarryn Geary- Didn’t notice Geary
#44 Stephen Milne- Milne looks good, not as vocal as normal though.
