Adelaide vs. St Kilda
Last years 7th vs. Last years 4th

The bookies’ have this down as an Adelaide win but despite Adelaide getting the point’s against the Pies’ last week, the amount of chances that Collingwood blew in the last quarter were laughable. Either way, it’s a 50/50 game for me.
Supercoach watch: The rookies’ did pretty well Supercoach-wise for Adelaide with the usual suspects (Bock, Porps’, Edwards, Knights and Goodwin) scoring the 100+. For the Saint’s Dal Santo (no real surprise eh given that he averages 100+ year after year) killed it with Farren Ray having a ripper of a score for someone in his price range – 125pts/$347,200. Reiwoldt had a poor one which means that unless he is carrying an injury, expect a good game from him.

Collingwood vs. Melbourne
Last years 6th vs. Last years 16th

Melbourne always plays well against Collingwood and given that Melbourne had a competitive showing against North Melbourne, I’d at the very least expect the same this week. The Pies’ officials seemed to blame everything on the loss against Adelaide but Collingwood. They must not have watched the last quarter…..
For the Pies it’s good to see Brad Dick make it back into the 22’ after doing his knee last year. He’ll no doubt add some pace and class around the forward 50.
Colin Sylvia returns to the Melbourne 22 after his team imposed suspension.
Supercoach watch: No captains to be found here!
Heath Shaw comes in for his first game of the year but I’d wait on him to see if his is still affected by his back problems. Watch for Fraser to have a good game; he does well when he plays a lone hand in the ruck.
Geelong vs. Richmond
Last years 1st vs. Last years 9th
A crazy line bet of 42.5 being offered here. We all know how disappointing Richmond were but how about Geelong barely doing the business against Hawthorn? Ok, maybe I am making something out of nothing but can you blame me when it comes to a game like this? Expect Richmond to be competitive for the first half and then drop off.
Supercoach watch: Deledio has been challenged by James Hird in the media so you would hope (myself in particular given that he is in my team) that he plays a good’un.
The usual suspects with Geelong scored well with Ablett justifying his amazing price tag. 1 down, 21 to go! – Feel free to have 3 poor ones in a row for those who don’t have you Gary.
It will be interesting to see if Ottons can replicate those scores of round 1 consistently – He could be a really good ruck option.
Sydney vs. Hawthorn
Last years 5th vs. Last years 1st
The Hawks have a patchy record against the Swans with the game also looking to be a wet one and the Hawks injury list growing even bigger this week, it could point to a Sydney win. But it won’t. Sydney not kicking a major in the middle two quarters was woeful and they need to rely on the weather, Hawks injury list and the narrow ANZ Stadium ground to give them a chance this week for mine.
Supercoach watch: Travis Tuck is out! Where on earth did this come from!?!?!?
Chance Bateman could be a good priced mid option as he has looked to have stepped up from a good year in 2008.
Hodges poor game would have been a deep hurt for those who have him. You don’t expect those scores at all for a guy like him. There could be a chance of a price drop unless he scores really well in the next two games.
For the Swans, LRT and Paul Bevan showed good Supercoach form.
Carlton vs. Brisbane
Last years 11th vs. Last years 10th
How about the hype for Carlton?!?!? 3rd favourites for the premiership they say. $1.36 for the win against Brisbane they say.
I say that Carlton fans have a lot of money for betting at this time of the year.
Still Carlton should win, especially if they want to be as good as the hype is suggesting.
Supercoach watch: Mitch Robinson was great as the rookie pick for Carlton. I could seriously mention about 15 players who had really good scores for both teams in round 1 so I won’t bother. There will be high scores in this game so look for a captain in the midfield.
Essendon vs. Fremantle
Last years 12th vs. Last years 14th

The Bombers were in the game against Port until a few things went the other way so the safe bet would be on Essendon. You never know with Freo though do you. Especially coming off a big loss and having angry old Harvey over there.
The bookies see it that way with the odd’s pretty even.
Supercoach watch: Sam Lonergan picked up where he left off in the pre-season cup to have a ripper of a game. If he has another good game this round and watch his price rise!
Pavlich had a shocker so expect him to have a good game.
MATCH OF THE ROUND
Western Bulldogs vs. North Melbourne
Last years 3rd vs. Last years 8th

To be perfectly honest, I found it hard to find a “match of the round” game to tag but I think that this has the makings of a defining game for one of the teams. The Bulldogs look to have carried on from last year and North are hard to read given that they beat Melbourne but you know that they can beat the Bulldogs.
Supercoach watch: Liam Anthony, how you broke my heart…..
Leigh Harding is being played in the midfield now so he is definitely one to watch.
Could Ryan Griffen finally deliver 100+ games consistently? We’ll find out soon but he is off to a good start.
West Coast vs. Port Adelaide
Last years 15th vs. Last years 13th

Unless we see signs of a premature and unlikely Eagles comeback, Port will win this. The Power are grossly underrated and the Eagles haven’t shown enough this year, for their sake Kerr and other senior players need to stand up.
Supercoach watch: Danyle Pearce is back by the looks of it so keep an eye on him this week for a good trade. Those of you who have Kerr would be hoping he improves on last week, if he has a few more bad games he’ll be a cheap trade.
Just a quick note to let you know SuperCoach are running a competition for those of you who haven’t joined yet. Check it out here. Kind of annoys me, they should be looking after those of us who have already joined, perhaps a random prize winner from current members as well or something.
