Key Supercoach Players for Round 8

Here are a few players on that are worth selling/buying/keeping an eye on for SuperCoach from what we’ve seen so far.

Bargains of the week

Adam Cooney

Last years Brownlow medallist had a slow start to his season after being hampered by injury, but looked to find his best last week against Adelaide. 29 disposals with 1.1 for a return of 126 showed he can still score. Having dropped over $130,000 since the start of the season he looks like a good pickup at just 438,000.

Cale Hooker

The young Bomber tall has been selected the last two rounds to fill the voids left by David Hille and Dustin Fletcher. Big shoes to fill but isn’t struggling too much, averaging 72 points including an 84 whilst playing on Lance “Buddy” Franklin last week. He will likely get the task of Nick Reiwoldt this week but with a price tag of $142,700 is sure to increase in value and get games with the Bombers injury list.

Ryan O’Keefe
The Swan notched his first triple figure score last week against Geelong. There is still plenty of games left in the season and you would expect that many more will follow. After dropping $95,600 to just $464,800 he could be a good pickup.

Andrew McQualter

The $393,200 St Kilda midfielder seems to have lifted this season, along with the rest of the team. Averaging 81.29 points he is yet to hit the triple figure mark, but has score 94 and 99 in the past two weeks so surely trips isn’t far off. He has been steadily increasing in price but still has potential to increase further.

Dean Polo

Like McQualter, Polo has an average in the 80’s but where he differs is the fact that he has hit triple figures three times this year. With a low score of 45 though, he tends to be susceptible to inconsistency. Priced at $383,000 could be a good pickup if you are after someone who can score big.

Sharrod Wellingham

Priced at $320,300, Wellingham has played the last two games for the Pies with an average of 78.50. He looks set to get a few more games under his belt this season given Collingwood’s injury woes, and could be a good pickup for a middle of the pack midfielder.

Daniel Bradshaw

Started the season well but after two goalless weeks the star has fallen $152,000. Lifted his game the last two weeks picking up bags of 4 and 3 respectively and surely won’t get held goalless too many more times this season. For $341,700 I wouldn’t think you can go wrong with this guy.

One -gamers to keep an eye on

Jack Grimes

I heard a lot about this guy in the pre-season and then he got injured. He played his first game last round and score an impressive 92 points against West Coast. Priced at $188,400 he isn’t one of the cheaper young guys but if he keeps up those kinds of scores will be well worth it.

Ben McGlynn

Back for his first game of the season last week against the Bombers, and returned 85. At $228,300 he can be picked up in your midfield or your forward line and could be a good replacement for an injury.

Jason Davenport

The Port Adeliade youngster scored 80 last week and for someone under $100,000 is a money maker. Keep an eye on him this week and snatch him up if he scores well again, I know I’ll try.

Steele Sidebottom

We saw him in the NAB Cup but he only played his first game last Monday against the Saints. His side got a belting but he managed to scrape together 67 points. Priced at $124,200 he could be worth keeping an eye on.

The ones that make you go ‘Ouch’if you’ve got / the ones that you are waiting to bottom out

Luke freakin’ Hodge

If you have been holding on to him in the hope that he will return to form, you will be furious now. The star is now out for 2-4 weeks with an injury and after plummeting nearly $150,000 has let many Fantasy Coaches down.

Daniel Kerr

After a couple of quiet weeks Kerr was starting to drop in price, but nobody expected him to get injured against Melbourne and only return 32. He dropped a massive $61,500 after that and could be the one you trade for Cooney.

Steven Salopek

He had started to hit great form, scoring his second 130+ score for the season in round 6, but when he went out against North Melbourne in round 7 it was a day to forget. He came off injured early in the last quarter, and despite making it that far into the game only returned 24 points. He will now be out for up to 3 weeks.

Josh Fraser

Collingwood’s main ruckman was doing alright, and I know a couple of people who picked him up. But in round 7 he did his knee and scored 34 making a lot of Fantasy Coaches furious. He won’t play this week, and no definite date on a return either.

Dale Thomas

He came off in the last quarter against the Saints when the game was over, with no specific injury, just a complaint of soreness. Word was that his benching was precautionary but his soreness has kept him out of this week as well. He only managed 53 points for the night while his opponent, Nick Dal Santo, ripped it up for 152.

Previous players mentioned revisited

Anthony Corrie

Played his second game against the Saints, but only managed a return of 67. His average is 88 but for someone priced at $362,300 isn’t anything to write home about. Could still be a good pickup given how the Pies performed overall last week, but could also be risky.

Chris Newman

Newman notched another triple figure score last week in a disappointing day for the Tigers. His average is at 98.86 which isn’t bad, and his price has dropped by nearly $50,000. If he can keep up the triple figure scores he wouldn’t be a bad pickup at under $500,000.

Matthew De Boer

De Boer hasn’t done anything spectacular for an $83,400 player. He only averaged 49 points in his first two games and didn’t reach double figures in disposals in either. Only grab him if you want a guy who might get games throughout the season.

Mark Coughlan

Played his third game, scored his average of 84, and rose in price by $45,500 last round. Still priced at 292,100 he still has potential to be a good pickup.

Dane Swan

The Magpie favourite has had a great year to date, bar maybe last round. Only managed 63 against the Saints and came off injured in the last quarter. He has been selected but if he actually plays he will be playing with an injured knee, limiting his movement. I wouldn’t be putting him captain this week.

Nathan Krakouer

Has risen by over $200,000 this year with an average of 92.43 but after two quiet rounds should drop in price the next couple. Would easily be a good pickup If he can get back to his string of triple figure scores though.
