Brisbane – 16.15 (111)
Melbourne – 8.8 (56)
Brisbane were just too good for the Demons in every sense and had the home ground advantage. This game is hardly a noteworthy part of either team’s season. Melbourne went goal-less from the 16 minute mark of the 1st quarter until three minutes in to the final term. You are nearly never going to win a football match with those statistics. Brisbane dominated for more than three quarters and just made the game in to a percentage booster.
Big Moment
Daniel Bradshaw took a contested mark and kicked a goal to put the Lions in the lead and they never looked back from there.
Key Players for Brisbane
Jonathon Brown – 5.1 on Warnock, best on ground probably.
Luke Power – This talented player played very well, 33 touches and 8 tackles.
Key Players for Melbourne
Excluding garbage time cameos from Sylvia and Davey in the last quarter it’s hard to choose a standout.
Cameron Bruce – Played well all day and had 12 marks
Brad Green – 24 touches and 7 marks, decent effort in a loosing team.
Musing from the Match
• Meh to the whole game
• Jack Watts is going to get a belting in the papers this week, especially because Naitanui basically won the match for West Coast.
• Melbourne only showed up for 40 mins of the game.
• Can’t take too much away from the game about Brisbane because Melbourne were just cones for most of the match.
• The big forward boys of Brisbane had a good games in front of the sticks; Brown and Bradshaw kicked 9 between them – more than the whole of Melbourne kicked.
SuperCoach News
Jurrah and Watts are not SuperCoach worthy this season. Bruce is being pretty consistent this year, that was probably his best game of the year so far though. SuperCoachers who have Brown, Bradshaw, Power, Adcock, Black, MacDonald and Bradshaw would be happy as they all got in to three figures. Shocking game for McLean will really push his price down. His head could be on the selection room floor next week.
