Recently Peter Daicos was kind enough to lend his time to a few questions we at ContestedFooty had for him, we’d like to thank him for the opportunity and to share the brief Q & A session with you. Let us know what you think.
Q: Does it frustrate you to see how little clubs seem to work on goal-kicking these days?
A: I’m not sure they don’t practice much; I think it shows how difficult a skill it is. Pressure can’t be measured.
Q: What chance do you give the Magpie’s for the premiership this year?
A: if they finish in the top 4, they are in with show; they need to win against top teams leading into finals as it’s important to build-up.
Q: Is it just a two-horse race this year?
A: Ask me this at around round 20, a lot can happen between now and then, injuries, loss of form, improvement from other teams are all possible factors- there is still along way to go.
Q: How do you think Nick Maxwell has been performing as captain?
A: Strong performance considering he has had extra responsibility of carrying on the famous number 5. Will get better with time.
Q: What was the highlight of your career?
A: Grand Final win-always remembered by fans – and the only year I can honestly recall well!
Q: I’ve seen an advert on T.V for a product of yours; would you like to tell us more about it?
A: Sportzstats allows you to record and document your year in sport-stats, game results, nutrition, clippings- sportzstats.com
Q: Who do you think is the greatest player ever?
A: for pure entertainment -Gary Ablett snr. He was targeted by teams and never ran out onto the ground without direct opposition.
Q: Any regrets? If you had your time again would you do anything differently?
A: I would have outsourced more support in areas of fitness and nutrition. Clubs were still very traditional in their approach to a lot of areas in my time.
Q: Is it harder to be an AFL player these days?
A: Not when you can go to work everyday and it’s inclusive of contemporary training methods which helps support maximum performance
