St Kilda 13.14.(92)
Richmond 5.6.(36)
St Kilda has managed to keep its undefeated streak alive with a win against a valient Richmond who tried hard all day but simply didn’t have the class to match the Saints.
Big Moment
After getting beaten in the first quarter, the second and third quarters were when St Kilda really put the foot down and the Tigers just couldn’t contain them, 11 unanswered goals broke the game right apart.
Key Players for St Kilda
Brendon Goddard – Went through multiple opponents on his way to 35 disposals and a goal. His decision making and intensity were impressive – when Goddard gets that much of the ball any team is in trouble.
Sam Gilbert – Statistically not the best player on the ground as he only had 18 disposals and 5 tackles but where Gilbert shines is in those tackles and taking marks off the opposotion kicks which he seemed to do all game.
Justin Koschitzke- 5 goals and numerous broken packs make it hard to to have Koschitzcke in St Kilda’s key players- had great presence.
Key Players for Richmond
Shane Tuck – Had an impressive 33 disposals in a game where you earnt every touch you got, consistantly worked hard and laid 6 tackles along the way.
Jack Riewoldt – Started the game well and took some good marks, unfortuantly kicked 1 goal 4 behinds or people would be raving about his game.
Musings from the Match
• The Saints reallyplayed 2 and a half quarters which was disappointing
• Max Hudghton has hurt the ligaments in his ankle- perhaps Maguire will get a chance now- although against Geelong I think they’ll opt for a small.
• The intensity in this game was fantastic.
• Richmond was impressive early and if they can string that sort of form together for extended periods they should sneak a few wins.
• Sam Fisher is getting tagged and is struggling to find form.
• Listening to Wallace on the radio on the way home you would have sworn he only coached them for a year or two- taking very little responsibility for the Richond list.
• Bring on next week.
SuperCoach
Once again St Kilda players are the way to go with 7 players scoring over 100 points. Nick Dal Santo raking in an impressive 147 Supercoach Points while Gilbert and Goddard had to make due with 126 and 121 SuperCoach Points respectively.
For Richmond only Shane Tuck broke the 100 points barrier with a well earnt 149 SuperCoach Points which will please a few people. Keep an eye on first gamer Jarrod Silvester who managed an encouraging 94 SuperCoach Points in a losing team.
