Adelaide – 19.16 (130)
Fremantle – 1.7 (13)
It was men vs. boys at AAMI Stadium with Adelaide putting in a dominant and professional performance against an extremely inexperienced Fremantle outfit who seemed to make mistake-after mistake-after-mistake.
The 117 point win boosts the Crows percentage to 112%, only 4% behind Collingwood.
Big moment
5 minutes into the game, Byron Schammer marked the ball in the defensive-50, played on and looked up field to see a zone set up by Adelaide that was so hard to pick a target, he kicked a “rushed” point from about 30 meters out from Adelaide’s goal…………
Key Players for the Adelaide
Patrick Dangerfield – He only got the ball 19 times but an amazing 14 of those were contested. He also had 3 goals and 2 assists as well.……(injury permitting)Bank on this kid being a top-10 player in 5 years.
Kurt Tippett – 5.4 and one shank. Continuing his excellent form and did what he needed to do.
Andy Otten – Had 18 first-half possessions and finished with 27 for the day. His disposal was a particular highlight.
Key Players for Fremantle
Greg Broughton – Kept on trying and trying and trying. Finished with 30 possessions and the topped contested possessions count for Freo with 11 for the night.
Paul Duffield – Continued his good season with another good performance in the back half with 7 rebound-50s along with 26 possessions.
Musings from the match
• Another milestone game (250th game for Simon Goodwin), and another Adelaide victory.
• Along with the above 3, the likes of Goodwin, Mackay, Vince,Thompson and Bock were also excellent.
• Only 4 players had less than 15 possessions for Adelaide showing the evenness of the performance.
• Tyson Edwards was one of the 4 with 10 possessions for the night. No Brownlow votes tonight.
• The inside-50 discrepancy between the teams was massive – 58 to 23………..
• With their two best players out with injuries, along with half of their team having played less than 50 games; are you really surprised?
• It was good to see Adelaide do the job as they were expected to.
• Their ball-usage was elite all night long.
• It was Ryan Murphy who kicked the goal for Freo if you care. He looks finished though – only had the 4 possessions.
• After the Saints, they have Port, Geelong and Collingwood in succession so it’s going to be good to see how they go.
