Position: Key Defender/Forward
Daniel Talia at 195 centimeters is one of the few quality big men in this draft pool, but at 79 kilograms may not be quite big enough to play as a tall at AFL level yet. The good news for the club that takes him is he is quick for his size and possesses good skills so he could easily start as a flanker and as a quarter in the championships showed he isn’t lost on the ball either.
Whilst this draft is widely recognized for its absence of hard tall players; Talia definitely isn’t the cause of the problem. As a defender Talia is miserly and attacks the ball with great ferocity, as a forward he provides a good target and when unable to take the mark will at least attempt to bring the ball to ground.
Some people have Talia in their top 10 for this draft but if you were being more realistic a late first round-early second round draft position seems likely for Talia as he hasn’t really dominated many games.
