In a typically close game the Fremantle Dockers were able to get off the bottom of the ladder with a 5 point win against the West Coast Eagles. The result could have been very different if not for West Coast’s ridiculously poor kicking for goal; the Eagles finished with 18 behinds.
Big Moment
Sandilands proved to be the difference in this game dominating the hit-outs and getting a lot of the ball- the contests around the ground in the last quarter could have gone the other way if not for his input.
Key Players for Fremantle
Aaron Sandilands – Amazing impact in his first game back, as mentioned he dominated the ruck with 31 hit outs but he also managed to get his hands on the leather an impressive 30 times!
Mathew Pavlich – Despite being tagged by Adam Selwood, Pavlich was irrepressible playing on the ball and finished with 36 touches and 8 tackles in a game that highlighted his importance to the Dockers.
Paul Hasleby – 33 touches on the ever improving Chris Masten through hard running and solid attack on the ball.
Key Players for West Coast
Adam Selwood – Despite unsuccessfully stopping Mathew Pavlich, Selwood had an impact on the game himself, snagged a goal in amongst his 28 touches.
Quinten Lynch – Took 10 marks in what was a reasonable game, unfortunately he didn’t put any scoreboard pressure on with his 23 touches.
Musings from the Match
• Good luck trying to pick derby games.
• Tim Ruffles did his knee.
• Dean Solomon has been reported.
• Neither of these teams looked good.
• Despite the match being close I really didn’t enjoy watching it due to the skill errors of both teams.
