Upcoming AFL Milestones – Round 21

Once again it is time to regonise some of the Milestones that we should be seeing this round.

Brady Rawlings – Rawlings will be playing his 200th this weekend when he runs out against St Kilda. His career with North Melbourne spans a decade after being drafted by the Roos in the 1998 National Draft. He managed 13 games in his first season and steadily improved his game over the next few years. 2009 has been his best season statistics wise despite having missed two games.

Cameron Ling – The leagues sexiest player will also be playing his 200th when he plays the Bulldogs on Friday night. Debuting in 2000 after being drafted to the Cats in the 1999 National Draft, he managed 10 games in his first season. He has polled Brownlow votes in each of his seasons since 2001, and has been one of the Cats more consistent players since 2003.

Robert Shirley – Although Shirley has only managed 9 games in 2009, he will be running out for his 150th when the Crows host the Eagles on Saturday afternoon. In his 9 years at the Crows he was originally drafted in the 1999 National Draft, was delisted after three seasons, before being imediately re-drafted by the Crows in the 2002 National Draft. More known for his shut down capabilities rather than his high possession counts, Shirley became the Crows number one tagger after Tyson Stenglein left the Crows to go to Perth.

Luke McPharlin – McPharlin will play his 150th on the weekend when Fremantle host Essendon at Subiaco. He was originally drafted to Hawthorn in the 1999 National Draft and managed to play 12 games in his first two seasons. Hawthorn then traded him to Fremantle following the 2001 season and in his new environment he started to gradually improve. He has only managed to play every game in one season.

Luke Hodge – Hodge will also be playing his 150th game this weekend. Drafted by the Hawks in the 2001 National Draft he made his debut in 2002 and played 15 games in each of his first three seasons. He has polled Brownlow votes in each of his seasons. In 2008 he was a part of Hawthorns Premiership team, winning the Norm Smith Medal for being the best player on the ground during the Grand Final. He also won All-Australian selection in 2005 and 2008.

Daniel Harris – Drafted by North Melbourne in the 2000 National Draft, Harris will also be playing his 150th this week. He debuted for the Roos in 2001 but it took him 4 years to really cement a spot in the team. Between 2005 and 2008 he played all but one game, but has only managed 10 games in season 2009. UPDATE (20/8/09): Harris was dropped by the Roos so look out for him in the coming weeks.
