It has been reported that Hawthorn premiership forward, and 2008 Coleman medalist, Lance Franklin has been injured in an apparent bar fight on Saturday evening. “Buddy”, as he is affectionatly known by the masses, has been in Perth no doubt visiting his family and friends after Hawthorn failed to make a September appearance. He was socialising with his sister Bianca, who is a well known netball player, and her fiance Matt Giteau. Giteau is a rugby union star who plays for the Canberra Brumbies, as well as representing his country as part of the Wallabies team. Western Force captain Nathan Sharpe was also present with his wife.
Buddy is now sporting a glamourous black eye and swollen lips having received a punch to his face. Police have confirmed that there was no indication that Buddy started the fight, and no formal complaints have been made. Whoever it was that started this encounter is either one brave person or completely insane because Buddy isn’t a small person himself, and he was with two proffessional rugby players who would no doubt be able to hold their own in a brawl.
