Western Bulldogs midfielder Matthew Boyd has capped off a consistent year and won the club’s Charles Sutton Medal at the Dogs best and fairest on Saturday night at the Melbourne Exhibition and Convention Centre.
Boyd finished with 154 votes, in his first even best and fairest win, came from behind to win the award. Daniel Cross was leading the way until his Round 20 ankle injury saw his tally stall and allowed him to finish runner up behind Boyd with 145 votes.
Boyd ended the season for the Dogs, averaging just fewer than 29 disposals, 15 handballs and 13 kicks per match in his 22 home and away games. He also led the club in total disposals (631), one hundred ahead of second place. He was also able to gain over 30 possessions in nine games throughout the season.
