St Kilda’s new recruit Andrew Lovett is amidst a police and internal club investigation after being arrested and placed in a police cell, early Saturday morning in St Kilda for being drunk in a public place, while he was out celebrating his 27th birthday with friends.
On Monday evening the St Kilda Football Club released a statement confirming Lovett’s incident and expressed their disappointment at the situation and with Andrew Lovett. They added that the club is investigating the incident that took place and will take the necessary action as required.
Lovett started his pre-season with his new club on Monday, unaware of the consequences he will be facing for his drunken behaviour. He will have to wait while the Saints conduct their own internal investigation on the matter before deciding a punishment.
Lovett will be meeting with club coach Ross Lyon and captain Nick Riewoldt next week to learn of this punishment.
