Position: Ruckman/Key Position Forward

Jack Fitzpatrick is an agile ruckman. Standing at 201cm tall he is amongst the tallest players nominating for the draft. His agility and speed for his height is derived from an athletics background and his comparatively light weight of 85kg. Fitzpatrick can play as a full-forward and kick bags of goals and rotate through the ruck.

Jack Fitzpatrick is not an elite ruckman but his versatility make him valuable. When playing in the ruck he often is roving as well, which is bizarre. He does the roving off his own ruck-work too. He even runs past for a handball receive which is highly irregular for a 201cm tall player with poor disposal by foot. This is probably due to poor coaching rather than any problem that Fitzpatrick might have.

Jack Fitzpatrick can rest in the goal square and out mark his opposition. His kicking is a worry however, especially on goal. He has kicked 5.4 in a game before playing at full-forward and some of those opportunities were 15m out which players really should eat up.

On the good note, Fitzpatrick does put his head over the footy, chases and tackles; which is deemed very important in the modern defensive game. He is pretty good in the packs and can handball out of the packs to good effect and positions his bigger body well. Fitzpatrick’s marking ability is inconsistent but generally good, he can mess up sitters but take a decent contested mark, normally due to his size.

You can expect Jack Fitzpatrick to go late first round or early second round in the draft this year. The only thing that holds this kid back is his chronic fatigue, which has hampered his development so far.

I'm fiercely logical, opinionated and don't care too much for backlash. Luckily, I'm always right. Did I mention that I'm arrogant? I also support Melbourne; the most illogical thing I do. Oh... I'm contradictory as well.
