Position: Midfielder

This Queensland youngster who played for the GC17 TAC team this year has already been in the press after it was reported that he was convinced by an AFL team (said to be Collingwood, given that he trained with them this year) to nominate for this years draft. By doing so, he has bypassed a chance of pretty much automatically being put on GC17’s when they enter the AFL in 2011.
Going by that, a club has obviously indicated that they will draft him with speculation that Collingwood and Hawthorn will snap him up with their first available picks.

In terms of the type of player that he is, his style reminds me of Ben MyGlynn with better kicking, given the way that he is inside whilst also loving to take players on.

Despite his size and height (176cm/74kg), he is excellent at clearances due to his ability to read the play and his willingness to keep himself moving whilst most players are stationary. When he wins a clearance, it’s not unusual to see him bursting through a pack to see him kick (on either side) the kick may be lacking depth, but is beautifully weighted.

In terms of things he needs to improve on, his fitness has been questioned which is a bit of a problem given that he is primarily a midfielder.
His kicking, whilst is good, lacks depth and is something that he’ll need to improve on if he wants to make the most of his good decision making.

Look for him to be a late 2nd round – 3rd round pick.
