Kevin Sheedy has been appointed the head coach of team GWS (West Sydney). Sheedy has signed a three-year contract (believed to be worth over a million dollars). His 3 year contract means he will not only assist with the development of the players and coach them in the TAC Cup in 2010, but also coach the club in its first year in the AFL competition in 2012.
Kevin Sheedy, over the last few years as AFL ambassador has impressed league executives in his enthusiasm in promoting Australin Rules Football, not only in Victoria but across the entire country. Sheedy said that when he was offered the role as coach of GWS, his decision to sign the contract was simple and easy to make. Reportedly Sheedy thinks he has unfinished business as an AFL coach.
Sheedy said “I am really excited by the challenge – clearly Western Sydney is a compelling opportunity for the game”. He believes he has a lot to offer West Sydney and plans to give the club the best chance of being approved a license by the AFL Commission.
