Position: Tall Defender

Kyle Hartigan spent his 2009 season playing for the Western Jets in the TAC Cup as a key defender. He managed 14 games for the year and impressed some selectors. Rumor has it that he has been approached by Hawthorn on multiple occasions, and Hawks fans are very interested in him rating him as their top ranked draftee (as of November 5).

Kyle Hartigan has excellent speed for a tall player, but his real strength is in his body strength and contested marking ability. He can often be seen flying at the back of a pack and coming out on top, emerging with the pill. He likes to shut down his opponent and doesn’t like to be beaten. His height allows him to spoil effectively from behind when a chance to mark is not present.

Hartigan posted a 14-5 in the beep test whilst attending the Vic Screening which is fantastic given his size. He is an AFL – Australian Institute of Sport (AIS) graduate after receiving an AFL – AIS scholarship. Kyle Hartigan will make a good addition to any teams backline, and should go in the second round.
