Stuart Dew joins the Sydney Swans as Assistant Coach

Former Hawthorn and Port Adelaide premiership player Stuart Dew will be joining the Sydney Swans coaching department for season 2010.

Stuart Dew will be joining the Sydney Swans as an assistant coach and join Stuart Maxfield and Daniel McPherson in the development department. His new role will officially begin on Monday.

Dew said that he was very excited about joining the Swans and that he has admired the club from a distance on the field and they way in which it was operated. He said “ I’m now really look forward to getting involved, getting to know the group and contributing to what looks like an exciting list to work with”.

Sydney Swans coach Paul Roos was very satisfied with the new addition to his coaching team, “We are extremely pleased to add a person of Stuart’s character and extraordinary playing background to our coaching team”.

Dew retired at the end of season 2009 after having played his 206 game career with two clubs. He played 180 matches for Port Adelaide, including their premiership in 2004 and played 26 games with Hawthorn, including their premiership in 2008.
