Sunday Twilight / Etihad Stadium
Odds: $2.75 vs. $1.45
The first hit out for reigning premiers Geelong will see them take on a young Kangaroos outfit at Etihad Stadium.
Geelong has a good track record in pre-season competitions, so it will be interesting to see how they come out and play.
The Roos will be looking to put their best foot forward to begin 2010 after a disappointing 2009 season.
You would expect the Cats to account for North, but it will be good to see how they have progressed over the pre-season. North will want to do everything right and show a game style that will see them be a success in 2010.
Players to watch for North Melbourne
Jack Ziebell – The young gun showed plenty of promise in 2009. He was hit with injury mid-season but showed enough to be considered a great prospect.
Can he continue his rise up the ranks?
Corey Jones – The forward line for North is not overly strong. The burden will be on the shoulders of Jones, who will be looking to get off to a good start against a good defensive team in Geelong.
Hamish McIntosh – Had his best season in 2009 and will be looking to continue this form into the 2010 campaign. He is vital to the set up of the Kangaroos and gives the midfield the best chance to get first use of the ball.
Players to watch for Geelong
Tom Hawkins – Hawkins will be looking to start 2010 on a positive note. Will hopefully be able to build on a solid 2009 by taking the number one forward position form Cameron Mooney.
Travis Varcoe – ‘Will benefit from a good pre-season. He should be rotated through the middle of the ground as seen in the Geelong practice match.
Josh Hunt – Returning to AFL football after a 12 month absence is never an easy task. Hunt was a big part of the Geelong backline 18 months ago and will be looking to cement a spot in the starting 22 this season.

Don't you mean "reigning" premiers. The odds don't look right, if Geelong is paying $2.05 I will put my house on them
