Gold Coast Football Clubs coach Guy McKenna breaks leg in intra club training match

The Gold Coast Football Club’s senior coach Guy McKenna has seriously injured himself at an intra club match during a training session at Carrara.

During the intra club practice match, Guy McKenna came onto the field to replace a young player in the backline. Just after he came onto the field he went to intercept a pass that was meant for the Gold Coast’s captain Marc Lock, when he collided with Lock and broke his leg in two places.

McKenna was treated on the ground and then rushed to hospital for further treatment. He is expected to be on crutches for several weeks, but will return to training as soon as possible.
