The Queensland Government and Gold Coast City Council have announced that extra funding will be given to the redevelopment of Gold Coast Stadium.
With the Government and City Council giving approval of additional funding for the home stadium of the AFL’s newest team Gold Coast; a permanent grandstand roof is going to be built. The roof will be constructed on the southern grandstand of the stadium and the stand will have 6000 plus permanent seating and just over 75% of supporters will be able to sit undercover.
The AFL’s chief operating officer Gillon McLachlan said that the redevelopment process is currently running on schedule and on budget and that it’s a “great result for the local community to be able to include environmental outcomes and enhanced facilities for spectators”
The redevelopment of the stand is scheduled to be completed in June 2011.
