Western Bulldogs vs. Port Adelaide – NAB Cup Semifinal Match Preview

Friday Night / Etihad Stadium
$1.36 vs. $3.15

Both the Western Bulldogs and Port Adelaide have gone through the first two rounds of the NAB Cup in quite a solid fashion. The Dogs have beaten the Brisbane Lions by 8 points in wet weather conditions and then blasted away Hawthorn by 57 points. On the other hand the Power has convincingly beaten Adelaide by 56 and West Coast by a massive 78 points last week.
The Dogs will take a very strong line up into tonight’s game missing only 3 players from their best 22 (including Brad Johnson and Daniel Giansiracusa), but Port Adelaide will be getting back Warren Tredrea, Robbie Gray, Travis Boak and Dean Brogan to strengthen their team. A tough match one would think. On the scoreboard Port Adelaide seems to look the better team, but the Dogs are out in force and look strong enough to win the NAB Cup for 2010.

Players to watch for the Western Bulldogs

Barry Hall – In his first game for the Dogs he collected 7 possessions and kicked 6 goals, a very good effort you would think. It should be interesting to watch if he continues his form for a second week.

Will Minson – Minson returns to the Dogs line up after being sidelined over most of the Summer after being poisoned by a bad batch of Soy Milk. He will be replacing Ben Hudson as the Dogs primary ruckman in this semi final.

Matthew Boyd
– 17 possessions in week 1 of the NAB Cup followed up by 30 last week when demolishing the Hawks, what will it be this week?

Players to watch for Port Adelaide

Cameron Cloke – Received a lifeline by the Power during the draft and now it’s time to repay them. Last week in his first game he kicked 2 goals from 6 possessions. If he is to stay in the team and keep playing footy, he needs to continue kicking goals and impressing the coach.

Domenic Cassisi
– Captain Cassisi needs to lead by example as he has already done this NAB Cup in order to get his team into the grand final. Week 1 he collected 17 disposals, kicked 2 goals and was at 94% in disposals efficiency. Last week he had 23 disposals and had 74% in disposal efficiency.

Nathan Krakouer – 20 disposals at 90% efficient + 10 disposals at 80% efficient = damn efficient. He has a mostly consistent 2009 season and would hope to continue it this season. Watch out for this fella.
