AFL Bets of the Round – Round 4

These are the bets I think represent some value this week.

Brisbane to defeat the Western Bulldogs at $2.05
There are only three teams at the moment who can go to the Gabba and start favorites and the Dogs are one of them. Personally I feel the Dogs are a bit overrated and the Lions have the sort of firepower that can beat any team on their day.

Richmond to defeat Melbourne at $3.60
Talking to a Melbourne supporter yesterday he was having a laugh at the fact Melbourne were favorites, he mentioned that although it sounds ridiculous he believes Melbourne will get complacent this week! Whilst that’s not the reason for this bet it was very interesting. Richmond and Melbourne are both battlers at the moment and those odds are good value.

Fremantle 1-19 at $7.00
Surely if Fremantle can beat Geelong its not beyond the realms of possibility they could beat a limping St Kilda side? The Saints don’t ever lose by much so you have the chance to add some value by including a margin here.

Hawthorn to defeat Collingwood at $2.32

Both teams have just come off a lose but the Hawks looked better from my perspective. Collingwood have plenty of distractions and have forgotten how to go up the guts and kick straight, Hawthorn play a similar style to the Saints and it should serve them just as well as it did St Kilda.

What are your tips this week?

the ‘good value’ bets you seem to be fond of picking, are ‘good value’ because the events they describe have ‘little chance’ of happening…

eg. last week you picked some ‘exotics’ (player to kick most goals, highest scoring team etc) which all had ‘good value’ written all over them, and ended up with 1 from 4 bets being winners…

while it may not be ‘worth’ putting a bet on a ‘sure thing’ because there is little ‘value’ in the bet (such as collingwood over melbourne @ $1.05), you’ll be better off in the long run than taking the ‘sucker exotics’…

then again, maybe you’re asked to promote such ‘value bets’ via your sponsors… i hate it when various radio stations promote ‘sucker exotics’ via their sponsors…

for me this week, main multi:
    geelong straight
    saints straight
    sydney straight
+ either melbourne or collingwood, not sure yet

    speculative:
    sydney 25+
port +36.5 line (i remember all too well the last time they played at skilled)

only take bets you’re confident in
    only gamble with your winnings
    protect your capital
    stay clear of sucker bets

ps. id also like to see some tipping from the CF team…
    :)

    haha.

SportsBET don’t ask us to do anything.

Last year I did a game by game betting post that was a lot more conservative with good results.

its a shame but people don’t want to discuss favourite’s odds – its not interesting.

I had a rare good one last week with 3 different multis getting up.
I went with various multi’s with Freo/Essendon/Melbourne/Bulldogs (they were in every bet) and a $30 outlay for a return of $220.

If I had the balls to mutli all games together, I would have won $700 but at least I won for once.

Don’t see much value this week personally so I might stay away this week……………
    ….or multi Richmond/West Coast and Carlton…………..

    • Vish says:

      Ok so I’ve gone……..
      Sydney/Collingwood multi ($20 outlay)
      West Coast/Carlton/Richmond multi ($10 outlay)
Priddis/O’Keefe/Pendlebury for most possessions multi (an embarrassingly small outlay)
      &
Melbourne to be the lowest scoring team of the round paying $23 freaking dollars! ($8 outlay)

      from downtown……..

  4. alec says:

melbourne are playing richmond…. for them to be the lowest scoring team of the round, they:
    a) have to lose to richmond
    b) be restricted to a low score by the richmond ‘defense’

    good luck!

    • Vish says:

I managed to cover my bets this week with my Sydney/Collingwood multi which I’m ok with.

      • alec says:

        yeah richmond never looked great…

i got caught out last week backing carlton…
id won $150 on the saints beating collingwood, then got home from the game at like 3am, drunk as a skunk, and put the lot on a syd/CARLTON/bris/bulldogs multi… if only carlton had of got up…

note to self: never bet at 3am while drunk

anywyas, did well this week… got my main multi and a specy…

        thems the breaks…

        next week looks ok

dogs wont lose 2 in a row
sydney, brisbane, collingwood, freo should all win…
