SportsBet odds: 1.04 vs. 11.60
5th vs. 16th
No one expects Richmond to win this game, Fremantle were unbeaten up until last weeks clash with the Saints, where they took it right up to last years grand finalists. The wonder of our game however is that the underdog can surprise and it’ll be interesting to see just how much fight the Tigers have in them.
Previous Encounters:
Round 10, 2009
Fremantle – 17.12 (112)
Richmond – 17.15 (115)
Richmond have beaten an injury depleted Fremantle by 3 points in a highly entertaining topsy-turvy game in which Mitch Morton played on(!) in the forward-pocket to finish beautifully and win it for Richmond
Key Players for Fremantle:
Matthew Pavlich – Pavlich has been in fantastic form and if he continues it the Tigers have very little chance. Even against the Saints Pavlich looked like he might be the difference if the Dockers had of won that clash. Look for him to have a big game, regardless of where on the ground he plays.
Michael Barlow – Barlow didn’t reach his best form for the year against the Saints and playing against Richmond provides the ultimate opportunity for him to step his game back up.
Key Players for Richmond:
Ben Cousins – After being criticized and suspended last week Cousins will be keen to impress and with an on field history like his it’ll be interesting to see if he can reach some of his better form, for the Tigers to be a chance he has to.
Jack Riewoldt – Whether he likes it or not Riewoldt has to be the main man of the Richmond forward line and if they are to win this clash he probably needs to kick at least 5 goals.
Prediction:
Fremantle at home should win this one easily, but as we know AFL has a good history of throwing up underdog victories. Fremantle by 24 points.
