Carlton – 16.6 (102)
Collingwood – 24.11 (155)
Collingwood has taken out their arch rivals Carlton by 53 points at the MCG on Sunday afternoon to win the Richard Pratt Cup and has now won the past 2 encounters against the Blues.
It was mostly smooth sailing for the Pies in the first half, and they led by 28 points at the main break. But in the second half the Blues came out firing and kicked the first four goals of the third quarter. Luke Ball then steadied the Pies with his third goal for the day. From then on it was goal for goal until Collingwood finish the quarter strongly with the last four goals.
Both teams were evenly matched in opening 10 minutes of the last quarter; however the Pies were able to finish faster and stronger and kicked 7 of the 10 goals scored in the final term to come away with a strong win.

Dane Swan – As predicted Swanny had an outstanding game once again against the Blues and dominated at the stoppages. Musings from the match
- Interestingly enough, Dane Swan started in the Pies goal square with Bryce Gibbs on him.
- Luke Ball kicked his first goal as a Magpie in the second quarter, followed by another one later in the same quarter. He kicked his third half way through the third quarter.
- Collingwood rotated players on Chris Judd the whole match.
- Chris Dawes is fitting into the Pies forward line extremely well and his strength and size makes him a valuable asset to the team.
- Despite the fact that John Anthony kicked 5 goals in the Pies VFL win yesterday, he is going to find it very difficult to slot back into the team.
- Simon White kicked the first goal in his AFL career with the Blues.
- Setanta O’hAilpin 5 goals were career high.
- Carlton had 54 more disposals than Collingwood (73 more handballs but 19 fewer kicks)
- Collingwood had 19 more tackles and 15 more inside 50s.
- It was the first time in the history of the game that a team (that being Collingwood) has played in back to back games with an attendance of over 80,000. Last week the attendance for the annual ANZAC Day match was 90,070, and this week the attendance was 80, 645.

Pendles, Ball and Swan stepped up big-time when Carlton came in the 3rd quarter.
Speaking of the 3rd quarter, there was some high-quality stuff from both teams there.
I can’t help but think how much worse off we would be without Ball in our midfield…….He fit’s in our midfield like a glove.
Really impressed with Dawes’s game.
Nice work from the angry Irishman for Carlton as well.
