Daniel Hannebery from the Sydney Swans was yesterday awarded the ‘Ron Evans Medal’ for being the 2010 NAB AFL Rising Star Winner at a function at Crown Palladium room.
Not only is Hannebery awarded a medal, but he also receives a $20,000 investment portfolio and a personal banker courtesy of NAB.
The awarded is voted by the All Australian selection panel which consists of Andrew Demetriou, Adrian Anderson, Kevin Bartlett, Gerard Healy, James Hird, Glen Jakovich, Mark Ricciuto, Robert Walls and Kevin Sheehan (Rising Star selector only).
The decision between this selectors was unanimous, and Hannebery (45 votes) received the maximum amount of votes followed by Melbourne’s Tom Scully (35 votes) and Brisbane’s Tom Rockliff (24 votes).
Hannebery was recruited by Sydney Swans with their second round selection at the 2008 NAB AFL Draft and was selection number 30 overall. He was nominated for the award in Round 2 this season after the Swans defeated Adelaide and collected 23 disposals.
During the 2010 home and away season Hannebery played in 19 games and averaged 21 disposals, 4 marks and 3 tackles.
