Jonathon Patton in detail
Jonathon Patton is a player people in recruiting circles have been talking about for a while now as he has been one of the dominant big men in his age bracket for a few years.
What is impressive about Patton is that although he is a monster of a man, he doesn’t rely on his size to beat his opponent, he beats them through work rate and smart leads. Perhaps this is a result of Patton being double teamed from a young age; regardless it makes Patton an exciting package for AFL recruiters.
Patton has had the odd quite game this year which has some people tipping him to ‘slide’ but even those people think he is an absolute lock for the top 10. Personally I like what I see even in his ‘quiet’ games, in that he still works hard and does the team thing.
Jonathon Patton is the complete package for a club looking for a player to build their forward line around for the next 10 years. He has an AFL ready body, works hard, plays smart football, shows ability at ground level and he kicks goals. These traits make it hard for me to think he is heading anywhere but to GWS.
