Mitchell Grigg in detail

Mitchell Grigg is the perfect example of why there shouldn’t be so much criticism of the draft pool this year. Grigg at the start of the U18 championships was expected to get drafted in the second round onwards. After showing off his skills, in particular his beautiful left foot kick, he is almost certain to get picked in the first round of the draft.

Grigg is a footballer’s footballer; he wins the hard ball inside packs, delivers well to team mates, kicks goals himself and tackles hard when the opposition have the ball. In a few games of the championships it was obvious someone needed to stand up and in them Grigg would win that vital clearance or kick that important goal.

If Grigg had a bit more pace in his game we’d be talking about him as a top 5 pick, unfortunately that isn’t his strong suit so he is more likely to go in the top 15-20 picks and whoever gets him should be happy as he is exactly the sort of inside midfielder any club could use.
