Jack Viney in detail

Jack Viney is going to the Melbourne Football Club this year as a father/son draft selection and he is exactly the sort of player they need.

Fiercely competitive and with a massive work rate Viney will start leading the Demons from very early on in his AFL career, regardless of his official leadership status.

Viney isn’t the biggest player going around but you’d easily forget that the way he attacks the football. He has been compared to Joel Selwood and Lenny Hayes, neither of which is unfair. Viney’s specialty is winning the football which he does in a very similiar regard to Hayes and Selwood, that is with disregard for anything but winning the football.

If Viney’s disposal was just 5% better he’d be the most talked about Draft Prospect ever, regrettably he is in fact human and despite having reliable disposal Viney does not have that elite level disposal it takes to get recruiters really excited and that is probably the only thing Viney needs to work on.

For those wondering if Melbourne didn’t have the Father/Son selection you could have expected Viney to get drafted in the pick three to eight range.
