Club by club breakdown of this years draft results. Who you selected, our thoughts and score for how our club went.
Part 5 includes Sydney, West Coast and the Western Bulldogs.
To clarify scoring.
1/10- Club has it horribly wrong
5/10- Club has done the basics, filled needs and paid about the right price for players
10/10- Club has made good value selections whilst also making a quality move from left field.
Sydney
Selections: Dean Towers, Harrison Marsh, Tim Membrey, Matthew Dick and upgraded rookie Harry Cunningham.
ContestedFooty’s Thoughts: Dean Towers is a mature aged pick from the VFL who reminds me of Isaac Smith.
Marsh is a fantastic athelete who can shut down his oppponent well but also attack from the back half.
Membrey has to be one of the biggest sliders of the draft, I had him going early 20′s and the Swans got him for pick 46.
Dick is a pacey mid sized defender who can play tall or small as required.
Score: 8.5/10- Membrey an absolute bargain.
West Coast Eagles
Selections: Brant Colledge, Adam Carter and Mark Hutchings
ContestedFooty’s Thoughts: Adam Carter is a player Eagles fans will fall in love with. The half back/midfielder can win his own football or be the damaging reciever just off a pack. Rarely makes mistakes.
Colledge is a strong leading forward who uses the football well, may have slipped under the radar of a few Victorian clubs.
Hutchings is an AFL ready inside midfielder who was formally on St Kilda’s rookie list.
Score: 8/10- West Coast always sneak a value WA boy into thier selections and they’ve done it again.
Western Bulldogs
Selections: Jake Stringer, Jackson Macrae, Nathan Hrovat, Lachie Hunter, Joshua Prudden and upgraded rookie Tom Campbell.
ContestedFooty’s Thoughts: The Bulldogs first four picks are all quality, in fact they were four of my favorite prospects.
They also picked up a lesser known prospect in Prudden, who is an inside midfielder from the Murray Bushrangers and a good smokey.
Score: 9/10- solid choices all round and love the late smokey.
