Melbourne – 15.13 (103)
North Melbourne – 17.11 (113)
An inaccurate Melbourne side was beaten by a less than awe inspiring North Melbourne outfit.
The last game of the home and away season was pretty close all day but North kept the scoreboard pressure on the Dees even though the Demons were dominant in passages. Ultimately it was Melbournes errors and failure to take critical opportunities that was their downfall. (more…)

Yesterday North Melbourne’s Corey Jones announced his retirement from AFL after 10 years. He will play his last match for the Kangaroos on Sunday against Melbourne at the home of AFL, the MCG. (more…)

SportsBet Odds: $2.02 vs $1.80*
11th vs. 9th
Maybe if there was a bottom eight finals series this game would have more meaning, but it doesn’t. Tom Harley thinks North would win it… maybe, but if it was at the G against the Dees they would get a run for their money.
North made short work of Melbourne earlier in the season at the Docklands but this is at the MCG where Melbourne think they can win. (more…)

Freo will give Blues Heave Ho! Round 22 kicks off with the Fremantle Dockers taking on Carlton at Subiaco on Friday night. There is plenty at stake in this game with Fremantle needing to win to be guaranteed a coveted home final. Both teams are coming off losses with the Blues going down to the cats by 42 points while the Dockers took a much publicised second string outfit to Launceston last week and were defeated by 116 points by the Hawks. While it is hard to tip a side that is coming off a 100+ point loss defeat, the Dockers and Mark Harvey will have egg on their face if they are not victorious after resting so many big guns. For this reason they look a great bet this week. Back Fremantle 16 or more @ $2.39. (more…)

West Coast – 14.10 (94)
North Melbourne – 16.14 (110)
North Melbourne have helped give captain Brent Harvey a 300th game to remember with a hard fought victory that saw both teams throw everything at the game to come away with the 4 points.
West Coast started off well kicking 5 of the first 6 goals but North’s intensity lifted after Leigh Adams was floored by a beauty of a bump by Beau Waters towards the end of the last quarter.
From then onwards, it was a neck and neck until late in the last quarter when North got out to a 21 point lead. (more…)

SportsBet Odds: $2.08 vs. $1.76
9th vs. 16th
This game would hold a lot more interest if Fremantle weren’t playing their seconds against 8th place Hawthorn, because a North win in that circumstance keeps their finals hopes alive.
Regardless North would want to win this game after an embarrassing loss last week against a St Kilda side who looked too good for them. West Coast have very little to play for besides pride and look certain to finish last in 2010, despite John Worsfold famously saying they were no chance to finish last earlier in the year. (more…)

The Cats are starting to purr! Round 21 kicks off on Friday night at Etihad stadium with Geelong taking on Carlton. The Cats are coming off an emphatic 101 point victory over the disappointing Western Bulldogs, while the Blues were also convincing victors over Richmond to the tune of 89 points. Carlton have won the last 2 meetings between the two teams, but the Cats were ultra impressive against the Dogs at the same venue last Saturday night. Back Geelong at the -31.5 @1.90 (more…)

North Melbourne – 9.9 (63)
St Kilda – 17.13 (119)
St Kilda brushed aside an enthusiastic, but ultimately not good enough North Melbourne side to win by 52 points. Like last week St Kilda kicked plenty of goals, which they’ll be happy about as it is the most common question mark on the clubs chances of winning the flag this year. (more…)

SportsBet Odds: $4.20 vs $1.23*
3rd vs. 9th
St Kilda may or may not be upping their training load which is probably more a factor of their performance than any other. They have stopped using the altitude chamber but have they really reduced training load?
North kind of need to win this one to get in to the finals. This is a massive game for them at their home ground. (more…)

Western Bulldogs – 22.11 (143)
North Melbourne – 10.12 (72)
With a 71 point victory the Western Bulldogs made sure the clubs outside of the top 4 really know how big a step up it is from making the top 8 to being a legitimate premiership contender. The Dogs out muscled and out played a young inexperienced Kangaroo’s side and looked every bit the real deal in the process. (more…)
