Ablett leaving – A blessing in disguise

Wednesday, July 14th, 2010

Before I go too far into this article let me make one thing clear I am a Geelong supporter who has grown up watching the Ablett’s running around in the blue and white hoops for many years. However I also understand that as good as Ablett is, he is a midfield player who can be replaced. An Ablett defection may be the blessing in disguise that Geelong will need in 3 years time. (more…)

Friday, June 4th, 2010
AFL Rd 10 - Power v Tigers

The Richmond Football Club has been a frequent talking point in 2010. Their performance for the most part has been below most people’s expectations and many experts couldn’t see them winning a game in 2010. The Tigers are widely tipped for the wooden spoon but can the Tigers avoid the spoon in 2010? (more…)

The Assist Kings

Friday, May 21st, 2010
AFL Rd 7 - Cats v Swans

As most people are aware Geelong is one of the most intimidating teams to face in the AFL because of their dominance over the past 3 seasons. The Cats have becoming a cohesive offensive unit and the addition of James Podsiadly has done wonders for the side. While the big forwards need to be watched and stopped it is the assists from the smaller players that go unnoticed by many in the football world. (more…)

Thursday, April 22nd, 2010
St Kilda AFL Community Camp

Everyone seems to have taken it as fact that Koschitzke takes his game to another level when Riewoldt is missing and he is the main man. Rather than just trust my opinion I thought I’d do some research on his statistics with and without Riewoldt since 2005.

SuperCoach Breakevens – The good and the bad

Wednesday, April 7th, 2010
AFL Rd 2 - Bombers v Dockers

Okay first off I’m going to give you all a very simplistic explanation of SuperCoach Player pricing and how their average points are involved.

SuperCoach Player’s are priced according to an expected average score, that price then fluctuates according to a three game rolling average. It’s important to know that as it allows us to exploit trading players at their peak and getting players into your team when they have bottomed out.

The way we exploit this is to keep a close eye on the ‘breakevens’ (BE) of players. Players ‘BE’ is what score is needed to keep their price at its current level, a low score and you can expect that player to increase in value and vice-versa for a high score.

With that in mind, I’m going to list the three lowest and three highest breakevens for you to consider: (more…)

SuperCoach – Last Minute Guide – Club by Club

Thursday, March 25th, 2010
Adelaide Crows AFL Community Camp

We have taken a quick look at the SuperCoach prospects from each club and who you should think about picking up and who should be avoided at all costs.

Adelaide Crows

Team Value – $13,275,600 (5th highest value)

Potential pick-ups
Simon Goodwin (DEF) is playing like he’s 10 years younger with averages of 123.3 points. He’s expensive ($554,000) and old (33 years old)
I know I mention below that players with interrupted pre-seasons should be avoided, but Bernie Vince (MID) is an exception to the rule. You’d expect a player like him to pick-up where he left off last year again. (more…)

With just two days to go until the season, the AFL has been rampaging with advertising. At the same time they are promoting round one with the ‘Can’t Wait!’ catchphrase. (more…)
