For all but Port Adelaide supporters this was a rather lackluster derby until the final quarter when Adelaide decided to kick into gear and give the Power a scare. The damage however was already done as Port Adelaide recorded a rather comfortable 19 point victory. (more…)

Melbourne put on a clinic in the first three quarters before Sydney added a touch of respectability to the score-line in the last. At one stage Melbourne were 91 points the better of Sydney. The Swan’s hopes of finals are drastically reduced now.

Melbourne moved the ball quickly and well. Sydney seemed off the pace; always half a meter behind. (more…)

The Western Bulldogs have dismantled a disappointing Fremantle side by 82 points and in doing so have moved into the top 4. The win was set up by a dominant first quarter in which they kicked 9 goals to three and from that point on were never really challenged. (more…)

West Coast vs. Carlton – Round 17 Match Review

The writing was on the wall for Carlton at half time in this game being down by 26 points but managed to turn this around by the final siren to win the match by 26 points. Past half time the West Coast could only manage 3 goals to Carlton’s 11. (more…)

North Melbourne vs Essendon – Round 17 Match Review

Essendon has finally put its name back on the winners list after defeating a North Melbourne side that was forced to use all of their named emergencies before the match began. It was a close affair for much of the night, and one that saw each team control portions of each quarter. Essendon looked home when they got to 15 points up deep into time on, but North fought back and brought the margin down to just three points with 35 seconds left on the clock. (more…)

The Collingwood Football Club has consolidated their position at the top of the AFL ladder after 17 rounds by a convincing 82 point win of Richmond at the MCG on Saturday afternoon.

The Pies dominated the match all afternoon and kicked the first 5 goals of the match to lead by 23 points at the first break. They then opened up the second quarter by kicking the first 5 goals once to put the game beyond doubt of the flat Tigers ever catching up.

Geelong has returned to the winners list and has claimed outright second spot on the AFL ladder after a comprehensive victory over the disappointing Brisbane Lions. Geelong started the match slow but by the end of the first term was in control and never really looked back. (more…)

Before this match started I said in my preview it could go either way. Well it went neither way as it was with both teams splitting the points as they both sat on 87 points at the final siren. 2 points is still 2 points and will be handy for each team as they head towards finals. (more…)

Essendon vs West Coast – Round 16 Match Review

West Coast has been led to its first win in 8 weeks thanks to a spectacular 12 goal haul from forward Mark LeCras. The first quarter was fairly close, with LeCras kicking all of West Coast’s four goals, as the Eagles took a three point lead at the first change. They simply kept stretching the lead at each break, as LeCras continued to add goals to his tally, eventually running out to a 32 point victory. (more…)

Richmond vs. North Melbourne – Round 16 Match Review

North Melbourne have simultaneously kept their finals chances alive and sent the Tigers a huge reality check as to where they are at as a club with a comfortable 50 point victory in trying conditions. The main reason for the result was North’s superior appetite for the contest but they also demonstrated that extra bit of polish that separates a finals contender from a team rebuilding like the Tigers are.
