Richmond vs. Adelaide – Round 18 Match Preview

Thursday, July 29th, 2010

SportsBet Odds: $2.42 vs. $1.57

15th vs. 10th

This match should be one of the games of the round on paper, both Richmond and Adelaide have had a poor start to the season but have jumped back on their feet over the past 5-6 weeks.

This match is more important to the Crows as a win will put them within reach of finals, however it will not secure them a spot. For the Tigers a win will put them another game clear of the Eagles in 16th spot on the ladder and put pressure on them to perform if they want to avoid it. (more…)

Collingwood – 19.13 (127)
Richmond – 6.9 (45)

The Collingwood Football Club has consolidated their position at the top of the AFL ladder after 17 rounds by a convincing 82 point win of Richmond at the MCG on Saturday afternoon.

The Pies dominated the match all afternoon and kicked the first 5 goals of the match to lead by 23 points at the first break. They then opened up the second quarter by kicking the first 5 goals once to put the game beyond doubt of the flat Tigers ever catching up.

Collingwood vs. Richmond – Round 17 Match Preview

Thursday, July 22nd, 2010

SportsBet Odds: $1.11 vs. $6.70

1st vs. 15th

On paper and based on recent form, this match should be a walk in the park for Collingwood, and increase their confidence even more by defeating Richmond. But these clubs have a history of some good encounters.

Both clubs have won 4 of their last 5 matches this season with two wins each over Top 8 sides.  The Tigers have had a tendency of defeating the teams that they shouldn’t this season, while the Pies have a history or losing games they should dominate. (more…)

Richmond vs. North Melbourne – Round 16 Match Review

Monday, July 19th, 2010

Richmond – 7.11 (53)
North Melbourne – 15.13 (103)

North Melbourne have simultaneously kept their finals chances alive and sent the Tigers a huge reality check as to where they are at as a club with a comfortable 50 point victory in trying conditions. The main reason for the result was North’s superior appetite for the contest but they also demonstrated that extra bit of polish that separates a finals contender from a team rebuilding like the Tigers are. Richmond vs. North Melbourne
SportsBet Odds: $1.85 vs $2.00

15th vs. 9th

All of a sudden this is a game your average football supporter might watch, the Tigers are playing exciting football and North are sitting just outside of the top eight. Who would have thought this game could offer any interest at the start of the year! (more…)

Richmond vs. Fremantle – Round 15 Match Review

Sunday, July 11th, 2010

Richmond – 15.10 (100)
Fremantle – 11.15 (81)

Richmond has extended its winning streak to four games with a hard fought win over Fremantle. The Tigers trailed at half time but were able to claw back in the second half and claim victory in the final 5 minutes of the match. (more…)

Richmond vs. Fremantle – Round 15 Match Preview

Thursday, July 8th, 2010

Richmond vs. Fremantle
SportsBet Odds: $2.67 vs $1.48

15th vs. 4th

This surprisingly shapes as a real test for Fremantle who travel to Melbourne without Michael Barlow and the chance to remain in the top 4 and set up the rest of there season. The Tigers are coming off a great win against Sydney and are one of the in form teams at present and will want to continue this form. (more…)

Richmond vs. Sydney– Round 14 Match Review

Sunday, July 4th, 2010

Richmond – 14.5 (89)
Sydney – 12.13 (85)

Richmond has pulled of a remarkable last quarter comeback to down the Swans by just 4 points on Sunday afternoon. The first quarter was fairly close but the Swans stretched themselves out to a 33 point lead deep into the third quarter, and looked home. The Tigers were not going to just lie down though. (more…)

Richmond vs Sydney – Round 14 Match Preview

Thursday, July 1st, 2010

SportsBet Odds: $2.12 vs $1.73

16th vs. 7th

On paper this match looks pretty simple. Richmond have only beaten Sydney once since 2004, and even then it was only by a point. Richmond also sits on the bottom of the ladder and Sydney look like playing finals. But I just have a feeling an upset is on the horizon. (more…)

ContestedFooty’s start of the year preview

15th-16th There is still a lot of ability on the Tigers list but they are going to struggle for a few years regardless. I like young Martin and think he’ll have a pretty quick impact at senior level and if the likes of Cousins, Deledio and Foley decide they have had enough of ‘passable ’ football then the Tigers have the ability to snag eight or nine wins in 2010. The reality is though they will be lucky to win six or seven in what will be another long season for Tigers fans.See the preview here. (more…)
