NAB AFL Phantom Draft – 2010

Here’s a look at how the NAB AFL Draft might unfold. James has based his decisions based on his rankings of the talent and the needs of each club. Much has been talked about how the Gold Coast will draft but they basically just need to select the best players they can. Knowing the order that they will select them in is fairly difficult as is Essendon’s selections with the introduction of Hird and Bomber Thompson could throw a spanner in to the works. (more…)

Daniel Gorringe – 2010 AFL Draft Prospect

Daniel Gorringe

Position:Ruck

History: Daniel Gorringe is a ruckman from South Australia. He made the NAB AFL Under-18 All Australian team this year and is one of the better tall players in the draft. He went to the AFL AIS Academy where he regularly rucked.

At 198cm he moves very well and can even kick running and crumming goals as was evident in the NAB AFL U18 championships. He is also an elite tap ruckman for his age, he is helped by a rare vertical leap. Gorringe is also a fairly decent contested mark.

Gorringe is a bit light for 198cm, he’s only 80kg but he will be able to put on a few kilos and be ready for AFL fairly soon after being drafted I think because of his experience at Norwood in the SANFL. (more…)
