Tonight, the ceremony for the 2011 AFL Players’ Association MVP Awards was held at Crown Palladium Ballroom in Melbourne.

The award ceremony was where the winners for each of the following categories were officially announced:

  • Leigh Matthews Trophy Most Valuable Player
  • Robert Rose Most Courageous Player Trophy
  • Best First Year Player Award
  • Best Captain Award

Football wise it seems pretty much all anyone wants to know about at this time of the year is about any of the latest scandals or what everyone’s plans are for SuperCoach/Dream Team.

I’m not going to write about the latest scandal at the moment as most of them have a habit of annoying me, so that leaves one of SuperCoach or Dream Team to talk about.

Here at ContestedFooty we have always been more into SuperCoach than Dream Team so I’m going to do a series of articles with some players to consider in each position.

NAB AFL Phantom Draft – 2010

Here’s a look at how the NAB AFL Draft might unfold. James has based his decisions based on his rankings of the talent and the needs of each club. Much has been talked about how the Gold Coast will draft but they basically just need to select the best players they can. Knowing the order that they will select them in is fairly difficult as is Essendon’s selections with the introduction of Hird and Bomber Thompson could throw a spanner in to the works. (more…)
