2012 Pre-Season Injuries
Monday, January 16th, 2012Essendon vs. Collingwood – Round 20 Match Preview
Thursday, August 12th, 2010SportsBet Odds: $6.70 vs. $1.11
12th vs. 1st
Usually this match would be one of the most anticipated matches of a round, but not this week.
Essendon in the last 3 weeks have had two wins against the Roos and Saints, however were smashed last week by Carlton and looked horrible. As for the Pies, they are looking the goods. They have not lost a match since round 10 and had a massive win over the Cats last week to make themselves premiership favourites. (more…)
Essendon vs Carlton – Round 19 Match Preview
Thursday, August 5th, 2010SportsBet Odds: $1.96 vs $1.85
12th vs. 7th
This is a classic rivalry match, and one that Essendon has won on each of the past six occasions. The Bombers are coming off an upset win over St Kilda, another team they have held the advantage over in recent times. Carlton on the other hand are on the ropes having won just three of their past four matches, and that was against West Coast. The threat of dropping out of the eight soon is very real with Sydney and North Melbourne snapping at their heels, but a loss this weekend still won’t see that happen courtesy of a large percentage advantage over the Roos. Essendon vs St Kilda – Round 18 Match Review
Friday, July 30th, 2010Essendon – 16.12 (108)
St Kilda – 11.9 (75)
Essendon has won its third consecutive upset win over St Kilda on Friday night in a game that they controlled most of the night. Essendon burst out of the blocks after conceding the first goal of the game, kicking the last 7 of the opening quarter to take a 6 goal lead into the first break. Eventually they won by 33 points and Bombers fans will be left wondering where this kind form was a few weeks ago. (more…)
Hawthorn vs. Essendon – Round 13 Match Preview
Thursday, June 17th, 2010SportsBet Odds: $1.57 vs. $2.42
8th vs. 10th
This game shapes up as an exciting encounter once again with both these teams fighting to stake a claim to play finals football. Hawthorn are in better form at the moment and they will be looking for some revenge having lost the past three encounters against the Bombers, including that now famous round 22 match last year. Physicality has become the norm between these teams, and brawls have not been an uncommon occurrence in the past so don’t be surprised if things get a little heated. (more…)

Saturday, June 12th, 2010Yesterday, Michael Hurley from the Essendon Football Club pleaded guilty to irresponsibly causing injury and evasion of a $13.80 cab fare last year in Melbourne Magistrates’ Court.
In the early hours of September 25th 2009 post Grand Final Footy Show celebrations; Michael Hurley caught a taxi from outside ‘7’ nightclub in South Melbourne to a Hungry Jacks on Hoddle Street. (more…)
Sydney vs Essendon – Round 11 Match Preview
Thursday, June 3rd, 2010SportsBet Odds: $1.76 vs. $2.10
7th vs. 8th
Well here we have two teams in opposite form. Sydney are coming off four straight losses, after starting the year off really well, whilst the Bombers are coming off three straight wins, and have lost just one of the past five. Three of the past four encounters between these two sides have been at the SCG, the venue for this encounter, with the Bombers walking away with the points in two of those times. (more…)
Essendon vs Port Adelaide – Round 7 Match Preview
Thursday, May 6th, 2010SportsBet Odds: $1.75 vs. $2.09
12th vs. 7th
Port Adelaide have looked much better this season, and have already defeated the once unbeatable St Kilda outfit in 2010. Essendon on the other hand have had a shaky start winning just 2 of their first 6 games. Port sit in the 8, the Bombers sit clearly out of it.
Last time they played the Bombers were humiliated in round one last year, and you have to go back to Round 18 2004 before you find the Bombers last win over the Power. Even then it is the only time since the start of 2003 that the Power has dropped a game against the Bombers. Essendon are not only looking to string back to back wins together but also get some redemption after their miserable performance all the way back in round one last season. Port Adelaide will be looking at this game as a chance to stay in the 8 for another week. (more…)
Collingwood vs. Essendon – Round 5 Match Preview
Thursday, April 22nd, 2010SportsBet Odds: $1.31 vs. $3.50
6th vs. 13th
These two teams have had complete opposite starts to the season, with the Pies entering the match with a 3-1 record and the Bombers with a 1-3 record. This young Essendon side should have some big inclusions, and they are known to lift for big matches so this could be a closer encounter than people realise. Collingwood have had accuracy issues over the past couple of weeks, and it caused their only loss (to St Kilda) when the scoreboard pressure was squandered and the Saints surged in the last quarter. Essendon has lost three games. One against Geelong in round one where the Cats surged in the last quarter and the Bombers dropped off, the next a week later against a reborn Fremantle side (the first time Fremantle have beaten Essendon in Melbourne in 12 years), and the last against West Coast last week to give the Eagles their first win of the season.
